      As per FL-8327 (see https://bugs.funtoo.org/browse/FL-8327?focusedCommentId=52351&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel#comment-52351) it would be useful to have metatools have an API for querying source code repositories such as git, directly.
