This impacts install by making some nice options basically a "DIY" operation rather than supported out-of-the-box.
EDIT: big picture, a number of changes are required to support encrypted installs and/or LVM installs on Funtoo. Right now this requires one or more additional steps not covered in the official install docs. This should be made a lot easier. By documenting the steps – as well as reducing the number of necessary steps to a bare minimum, or eliminating them - drobbins
grub needs the use flag "device-mapper" set for LVM, along with another program that i missed, probably genkernel, or something like that. im looking to purge the useflag alterations in the encrypted install documents. i don't know if mix-ins can set rc-update's but if they do lvmetad and device mapper should be added for LVM sysinit level.
this will help smooth over installs with lvm, and also impacts installs with disk encryption & lvm.
