In /etc/conf.d/hostname, the comment says:
- Set to the fully-qualified hostname of this machine
This is actually not correct advice. hostname should be set to the fully-qualified hostname of the machine if the machine has a DNS-addressable fully -qualified hostname (ie. "mybox.bloated.com"). Otherwise, the hostname should be set to the non-qualified hostname, such as "mybox".
Our install instructions should be updated to reflect this as well.
