i used to use xfce4-mailwatch-plugin to monitor email but its missing from the tree now =(  ill look into monitoring from thunderbird as a work around in the mean time.  email monitoring makes me aware of the email immediately instead of slobenly checking my email once every 2-3 weeks (usually to do something else) to realize that im a member of the bug tracker community then to surface out of nowhere on the bug tracker.
