I have noticed that my user's ~/.xprofile is not sourced when logging in to cinnamon via sddm. I imagine this is an sddm but more research is needed. I use ~/.xprofile to disable my touchpad, since I prefer using the trackpoint, so it's very noticeable when this isn't working properly.

Workaround: manually source ~/.xprofile after login.
