most users want to make sure the download downloaded correctly, md5sum will show if my buggy wifi sliced the download quick, and easy.  gpg is not quick and easy.  it's far superior in many ways, but we need the quick and dirty.

dnsmasq has sexy curl commands.  we should have alternative curl commands for users installing from a linux distro that does not ship with wget.  (what savages wouldn't ship wget?)
