Upon trying to install Funtoo 1.4 using the current Area31 live CD I was unable to use wifi. That is because loading the firmware for the Intel 8265 wifi card failed, as noted in dmesg. Probably a mismatch between kernel and firmware versions. The iwlwifi module was loaded but wlan unavailable.
