NVIDIA CUDA 9.2 has been released, as well as an important additional patch for cuBLAS:

This release requires nvidia-drivers 396.26 or later, and does not support the earlier 387/390 series drivers, thus support for CUDA 9.1 must be maintained.

Existing packaging does not handle patches, and multiple packages use the same upstream packaging, so considering implementing as eclass and backporting to support earlier versions as well.

Drivers packaged with cuda toolkit need to be installed instead of general release (.26 vs .24).
