I have an official gnome instance running in a VM for testing harvester stuff.
      After today's sync and update
      harvetser-boot-problem-after-update.txt
the instance fails on boot due to not able to find the root device

In the rescue shell following kernel modules are loaded:

      ls /dev/

Are any kernel modules missing in the initramfs-debian-sources-x86_64-6.6.15_p2 initramfs image?
Updating logs, grub config, fstab config, loaded kernel modules before booting can be found in harvetser-boot-problem-after-update.txt
No specific setup like lvm, raid, encryption, zfs was used for this instance, just default MBR partitioning with grub and ext2 / ext4
