We really need to update our `glibc` version.  Over the course of the last year, reports of third party binary packages that don't work on Funtoo systems have been increasing in frequency.  I've encountered AppImages that I couldn't execute.  The game Dwarf Fortress has a native Linux version; but our `glibc` is too old to run it.  Other popular distros have already migrated.  These problems will only grow with time.
