This issue is here to track recent stage3 updates –

For all DE (desktop environment stages), I have made the following improvements:

• add and enable chrony(d) by default (except raspi4 gnome which uses busybox-ntpd, but could also fall in line with this if chrony(d) is confirmed working.)
• enable intel-microcode and iucode_tool on intel stage3's – suggested by grouche 
• grub is emerged by default, so no additional merges are needed to complete install.
• nvidia-drivers is removed, as is the nouveau-blacklist, so nouveau will be active by default.
• /etc/fstab has been tweaked to have correct tabbing with vim as well as nano (8-space tabs)

These changes will show up in the 2023-05-05 and later stages currently being built. These DE stages will need testing and feedback from our community as well as Install documentation updates.

I plan to massively streamline the existing install docs to be focused on the DE stages, with a single step documenting "If you're not using a DE stage, here's all the additional stuff you need to do that's done for you on the DE stages." That will clean up the Install steps a ton.
