I created this issue to centralize the work on "a complete overhaul of the cyrus stack". to bring it to A level support on Funtoo.

Please link here any issues relating to cyrus imapd and feel free to comment or suggest any improvements you feel the cyrus stack needs. Also, if you would like to help with any task related to this issue, please talk to coffnix or me first and then create a subtask here, so we can keep all centralized in one place.

This include the imap server itself and supporting libs dev-libs/cyrus-sasl, but it may also touch it's dependencies and software it interacts with at runtime, such as:

• mail-mta/postfix
• dev-libs/jansson

• sci-libs/shapelib

These are not all the possible dependencies. There are more.

Also, as part of this task: research and determine what additional utilities can be added to the tree to work with cyrus-imapd.

And finally, given the complexity of this package, with its many different options and interactions with external utilities, this task will not be complete without creating at least a basic documentation/tutorial on the wiki.
