The recently-added mdadm-3.3 (keywords ~alpha ~amd64 ~arm ~hppa ~ia64 ~mips ~ppc ~ppc64 ~sparc ~x86) depends on udev rule string substitution for $devnode. Previously, this substitution was called $tempnode.
This new substitution name was added to udev after the most recent version in Funtoo's portage with any keywords (udev-171-r8). Gentoo portage does not exhibit this issue as they have keyworded udev-204 for stable and udev-206 for testing.
Without support for $devnode, the mdraid udev rules fail resulting in /dev/md/ and /dev/disk/ symlinks not being created for mdraid devices.
The provided 1-line patch for udev-171 backports support for $devnode in case any other packages depend on the new substitution.
