On Gentoo the tlp package (app to optimize battery-life on laptop) is available via an overlay tlp overlay on Gentoo

It's an app to tune the energy consumption on laptop that I'm using on other distros and its granular configuration file (/etc/tlp.conf) is very detailled and simple to configure.
