apptainer is the name for the singularity project as it has been made into a Linux Foundation project. I am going to be using apptainer so I will need an ebuild for it. It is likely going to be very similar to singularity, and it is my understanding that singularity will continue to be its own thing but apptainer will be its upstream now.
