mail-client/evolution-3.34.3 WebKitWebProcess crashes when displaying messages

    Details

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Closed
    • Priority: Normal
    • Resolution: Fixed
    • Affects Version/s: None
    • Fix Version/s: None
    • Labels:
      None
    • Reproduction Steps:
always fails when opening a received email or a sent email. Seems to work composing a new email, or forwarding an email. When forwarding, original email content is displayed.
    • Facts:
Always happens. Recent system update (1/26/2020). Never happened before, been using evolution on Gentoo/Funtoo since Ximian days.
    • Presumptive Root Cause:
      Hide
OK, we couldn't find the exact root cause but the bigger picture root cause is that webkit-gtk is a stale snapshot of webkit and it is missing a lot of important patches, and it looks like the latest stable snapshot was taken at a very unfortunate time and is missing tons of upstream fixes.
