It is wrongly masked. A gentoo comment claims that it requires multilib and is masked for that reason. This is not true, it is a 64 bit program.

To get it to emerge it was required to unmask it and install openssl-compat

A solution would be to unmask it in the kit and add openssl-compat as a requirement.

Those of us who own a permanent licence for eaglesoft prefer not to have to multiboot when we need to use our software.

The new owner of eagle changed the licensing to subscription but the old license is still valid due to grandfather rule. Version 7.7 which is the one gentoo and funtoo have is the last one where that license will work.
