      Description

The current ebuilds of portage in the funtoo tree are 2.4.1-r1 and 2.4.3-r1. There are no such versions in the Gentoo tree, creating confusion. The ebuilds themselves reference exact releases of portage, 2.2.26 and 2.3.2, respectively. But many mirrors appear not to have these versions (https://dev.gentoo.org/~dolsen/releases has them, but what if they get removed here, too?). Why does Funtoo need to be different and weird with respect to Gentoo?

this is historical discrepancy in versioning, when Funtoo had entire development portage git repository forked for own improvements and with custom git version tags set. Now, everything is in vanilla portage with Funtoo improvements included but ebuild versions are kept little bit ahead just to avoid "downgrade" during "update". It is nothing to worry about. I mirrored portage tarballs, so that they are now always available.
