I recently installed a new system using the stage3-atom_64-funtoo-current-2015-10-21.tar.xz image. A day or two ago, I started getting the error "cannot run C compiled programs" during the configure phase for programs when they were compiling for the abi_x86_32. After some digging, I found Gentoo bug 358143 https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358143 On my system, I also had separate /lib, /lib32, and /lib64 directories. I followed the directions and moved the contents of /lib to /lib64 and created a symlink, and that fixed the issue. So somehow this old bug cropped up again in Funtoo.
