For testing purposes I want to merge gcc 4.8.x alonside current gcc-4.9.x.

emerge sys-devel/gcc:4.8

Following the merge, gcc-config indicates that the profile has changed to 4.8.4

gcc-config -l
 [1] x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.8.4 *
 [2] x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.9.2

While this can be corrected with

gcc-config 2

there was no warning message following the merge to indicate this automatic change in profile. Is this correct behaviour?
