There are a number of issues with the state of sys-dev/gcc in Funtoo, some pressing and some not-so-pressing.
1. To begin with, ebuilds for 4.7.4, 4.8.3 and 4.9.1 should be added with 4.9.1 masked for testing. If any older point releases are desired, it should be 4.5.4 and 4.6.4, the rest should be removed.
2. Support for cross-compiling should be added.
3. For various reasons, we have removed the gcj USE flag, even though the configure option is still present in gcc-4.9.1. It does not need to be readded but packages that depends on it, such as app-text/pdftk and dev-java/icedtea, should be dealt with.
4. Which USE flags are enabled by default should be reassessed and at the very least, inclusion of fortran should be considered.
