/proc/sys/vm/swappiness defaults to 60, which means that swap will start being used relatively early, when maybe 60% of RAM is used. This is probably not optimal for most systems.
We may want to research this a bit more, and see why the default is 60, but a much more reasonable default seems to be 10, which will allow swap to be avoided until RAM is truly beginning to become relatively scarce.
