      The final step 16 on the install tutorial (Install Guide: Finishing Up) made me think that i installed funtoo successfully (technically i did) and ready to use, especially this line:

      You should now see your system reboot, the GRUB boot loader appear for a few seconds, and then see the Linux kernel and initramfs loading. After this, you should see Funtoo Linux itself start to boot, and you should be greeted with a login: prompt. Funtoo Linux has been successfully installed!

      Funtoo Linux has been successfully installed!????

      made me think (after rebooting into a perfectly looking system!), that all will work fine with no further steps needed.

      The entire system booted straight into a working login shell without any graphical problems. No flickering, no tearing, nothing unexpected or unusual. Loging in into the desktop worked fine. Everything looked perfect, until you wanted to start something gnome-* and some other applications, leading to a session crash and throwing you back to the login screen. Other applications worked just fine. Reason totally unknown. Described here:

      https://bugs.funtoo.org/projects/FL/issues/FL-11047

      In short: The gfxcard-intel mix-in was missing. Installing that made all work fine!

      This is related to my question here (marked as solved):

      Bug report here (solved): https://bugs.funtoo.org/browse/FL-11047

      My improvement suggestion: The need for the intel gfx card mix in will be mentioned on the 17th chapter, AFTER booting into a (allegedly) perfectly working system. At this point you think of a complete system. And if you face session crashes on gnome or arbitrary desktop applications, mostly you will think of a bug somewhere in desktop apps, manager, driver etc. But simply the gfxcard-intel mix-in was missing. It would be much more clear and avoiding confusion to place the "Graphics Settings" from chapter 17 (Install Guide: Profiles) somewhere in chapter 16 or even an extra chapter (16-17[Graphics Settings]-18), just to avoid a situation like mine (new to funtoo). When i dropped a "epro show" on a freshly installed system, there seem to be already all common drivers installed (except the intel one - you wont notice that on first sight, at least i didnt)

      === Enabled Profiles: === arch: x86-64bit build: next subarch: core2_64 flavor: desktop mix-ins: gnome mix-ins: gfxcard-nvidia mix-ins: gfxcard-kvm mix-ins: gfxcard-radeon mix-ins: gfxcard-amdgpu mix-ins: gfxcard-vmware

      The intel one had to be installed afterwards (first reboot). BTW: Why amd, nvidia, etc. is preinstalled on stage3 and no intel? Anyway, i feel that the need for the "Graphics Settings" in "Install Guide: Profiles" should be placed before the first reboot and telling that "Funtoo Linux has been successfully installed". Technically it is, but not complete and safely ready to use.
