Currently, Funtoo's portage severely outdated and definitely suffers from bugs. It was our responsibility to make it work painless but now it takes some additional time to backport changes into portage-funtoo tree on git.funtoo.org. I'd like to have most recent git development tree on git.funtoo.org, say as portage-vanilla to start the work from scratch. Many custom changes now implemented upstream, like git sync, * ~* keywords, except a few features and in my opnion it will be less cumbersome to do backports. It has some major changes in repository managent (tree, overlay) a repos.conf, so we would need to make them work with Funtoo aswell as Funtoo's profile support and Arfrever's python.eclass
